Resist — Rehabilitation Device
A full-body resistance device with variable torque via magnets in a Halbach-Array. Personally designed, built, and patented.
Overview
Resist uses magnetic induction to generate smooth, progressive resistance across a 10m range of motion — allowing the user to cross the room and load their knees in an exercise highly recommended by physiotherapists.
The device USP is knee rehabilitation, but it can be used wherever resisted pulling is key; To act as a weighted cable machine, or rowing machine, for example.
Engineering scope
- Concept development and clinical need validation
- Magnetic mechanism design — considering thermals and field optimisation
- Full mechanical design in CAD: housing, adjustment mechanism, and sensor placement
- Iterative prototype build and testing
- Patent application — granted as Patent #20 2025 001 615
- Regulatory and commercialisation pathway research
